About Me

Hi! My name is Teahna and I wanted you all to get to know me a little  bit better. I’m from Cincinnati, Ohio in the United States and I’m 18 year old  and will be 19 on July 13th. I have basic knowledge of American Sign Language, Spanish and am fluent in English as it’s my first language. I have worked with many children throughout the years aged newborn- 12  year old. I also have a lot of experience with children with disabilities and special needs. I like to go outside and play games with the children. I prefer to be active  with them, so they get good exercise and I do too 😉 I like to play games like  soccer, basketball, tag… I also like to ride bikes and go swimming with the  children. Inside I try to keep their minds active. I like to play board games,  card games, puzzles, talk and cook with them inside. I have participated in basketball, soccer (when is was younger), cheerleading, and track and field. I love staying active and participated in many clubs like ski club, international club, ping pong club and much more. One of  my favorite things to do is dance.

Dear Family,

Hi! My name is Teahna . I’m from Cincinnati, Ohio in the United States and I’m 18 year old and will be 19 on July 13th. I come from a big family of 6 sisters and 1 brother. I have basic knowledge of American Sign Language, Spanish and am fluent in English as it’s my first language. I have worked with many children throughout the years aged newborn- 12 year old and am currently an au pair living in Elche, Spain since August 2016 – End of August 2017. I also have a lot of experience with children with disabilities and special needs. I used to volunteer at a summer camp for children with special needs and disabilities 2 weeks every summer from 2013-2015 and worked with people aged 5-22. Also I volunteered everyday for an hour during 2015-2016 school year with an adaptive physical education class specially designed for children with special needs. The duties I have had in the past from babysitting, au pairing, and working with children with disabilities included playing with them outside/inside, coming up with new fun creative activities/experiments/games, disciplining, bathing, putting them to bed, getting them ready in the morning, accompanying them to school/after school activities, teaching English, cooking for the children/preparing snacks, feeding children (mainly newborns and babies, sometimes the children with special needs,) tidying up children’s toys/play areas, helping with homework, and teaching them new and exciting things.

I also love to try different kinds of food and experiencing new and exciting things.

I plan on attending University in a couple of years and studying International Relations and Global Affairs and after University I plan on joining a volunteer service to help refugees for 2 years.

Hi. My name is Clara . I am currently the host mother of Teahna. I have two children, Noam 5, and Nova 3. Teahna moved here at the end of August 2016 as our family’s au pair. But she has been more than that to us. She is a part of our family. She has a wonderful attitude ever since she arrived. When she arrived here, our schedule was very busy and Teahna started working the day she arrived. This was not our intention but she handled it with a very positive attitude working more hours the first month than intended. This was the first sign of showing her high level of maturity and responsibility. Teahna is in charge of taking the children to school in the morning and preparing them for school, then picking them up from school while proving a snack and stay with them until my husband or I are available. She has also taken the opportunity to earn some extra money when our cleaning lady left and saved us the trouble of finding another one lifting a weight off of our shoulders. Anytime we needed her to do something, she always does it, but a lot of the time we don’t need to ask because she has a lot of initiative. When she sees something needs to be done she does it, which is something I really love about her. She always finds new and creative activities to do with the children and games and handled the situation of communication with the kids with a very positive attitude even though they didn’t understand any English at the beginning. One of our main purpose was that the children get used to the English Language and now the children’s english is a lot better and they can understand when she speaks and can also communicate with her as well. She made this purpose her own purpose, she repeats things she says so they understand and explains things very well for them to understand. She is also very aware of things happening around the house and is very proactive in the family life. She is very empathetic. Anytime we are very busy or something unexpected happens, she helps out anyway she can. She is very kind person and also likes to have nice conversations. She is not shy, which is great because she gets along with all of our friends and family very well, but also likes her privacy. She is not a very artificial person as in she concerns herself with things going on in the world and things happening around her. She is very respectful. I really also liked that she made the effort of eating food she has never tried before, which was very important here because we don’t eat very typical things that she was used to. She still managed to have a great relationship with the kids despite the fact they are small and want us a lot. The kids, my husband and I see her as a member of our family. I’m convinced that she is able to fit in any kind of family and environment thanks to her positive way of seeing things and her positive attitude. Any family that has her would be very lucky.

Clara
