To work in Malta you must obtain a work visa

Citizens of Australia aged between 18 and 25 years can apply for a working holiday multiple entry visa, valid for a period of one year from date of issue, under reciprocal arrangements agreed upon by the government of Malta and that of Australia.

In exceptional circumstances, the limitation of age could be extended up to 30 years.

The scope of the agreement is to provide wider opportunities for citizens, particularly the youth, of Malta and Australia to appreciate the culture and general way of life of the other for the purpose of promoting mutual understanding between the respective countries.
